Richmond Juniors was originally founded in 1975 as an offshoot of Richmond & Twickenham Chess Club (RTCC).
A considerable number of Richmond Junior’s former students have taken their chess further with RTCC over the years since.
RTCC has been one of London’s leading chess clubs since its foundation in 1958 from the merger of a couple of local clubs, and currently meets on Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 10:30 at the Cambridge Park Bowls Club, Cambridge Park, TWICKENHAM TW1 2PG. The club provides competitive chess at all levels, with teams in the London League, Thames Valley League and the Surrey League, with regular matches against other local clubs. It also provides opportunities for social chess at all levels. Most weeks during the match play season (October to April) there will be a match on, but there will usually be a dozen or so social players, ranging from near beginners to first team stars, there as well.
Richmond Juniors recommends that its older, more experienced players consider our neighbouring adult club, should they want to seek out opportunities for regular, serious chess against adults of varying standards.
If you’d like to inform yourself further about the activities of RTCC, please email their Club Secretary. You’re welcome to try them out for a couple of weeks first, before committing yourself.
