EPSCA U11 Zonal

Last year our U11 team finished second in their zonal qualifier at the University of Westminster, and then at the national final at Bolton.

This year we would like to do even better!

But first we need to qualify for the final, by placing well in the South Zonal, which will be held on Saturday 24th January at the Gordano School, St. Mary’s Road, Portishead BS20 7QR.

10 teams will compete with Swiss team pairings over 12 boards. The teams will be Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Glamorgan, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Richmond A and Richmond B, Somerset, Sussex A and Sussex B.  Up to 4 reserves from each team will play in a separate tournament at the same time as the main event. 

The rate of play will be all moves in 25 minutes plus 10 seconds per move.

The schedule for the day will be:

  • Arrival – by 11.00am
  • Board Stewards Meeting – 11.15am
  • First Round – 11.45am
  • Second Round – 1.10pm
  • Third Round – 2.35pm
  • Fourth Round – 4pm  Prize Giving – from 5.25pm

The final will take place on Saturday 14th March, venue TBA.
